7 simple tips to keep your Thermomix clean and like new
A clean Thermomix® works better and lasts longer. Here are 7 easy, safe habits to keep it shiny, day after day.
Your Thermomix® is used almost every day, so a little care goes a long way. The good news: cleaning it is quick and easy. Here are seven simple habits I share with everyone.
Always check your user manual too, as it has the official instructions for your model.
1. Rinse right after cooking
Don't let food dry in the bowl. Rinse it with warm water as soon as you finish. Most of the time, this is enough to remove everything.
2. Let the Thermomix clean itself
For stickier food, pour about 500 g of warm water and a drop of dish soap into the bowl. Close the lid and run it for a few seconds at a medium speed, then rinse. Your Thermomix may also have a pre-clean mode: it does this for you.
- ✅ Always start slowly with warm water, and never fill above the maximum mark.
3. Never put the base in water
The base has the motor and the electronics. Never put it in water and never put it in the dishwasher. Unplug it, then wipe it with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
4. Take care of the blade and the seal
The blade can be removed for cleaning. Be careful: it is very sharp. Clean the blade and the rubber seal well, then dry the seal completely before putting everything back. A dry seal stays in good shape for longer.
5. Remove limescale the official way
In many places, including the UAE and Qatar, tap water can leave white marks in the bowl. To remove limescale, follow the descaling method in your user manual, with the product or quantities it recommends. Don't use strong chemicals or anything abrasive.
6. Use the dishwasher wisely
The mixing bowl, the lid and most accessories can go in the dishwasher. Check your manual for each part. For a long life, many people prefer to wash the bowl by hand: it is quick and gentle.
7. Store it dry and open
After cleaning, let all the parts dry well. Store the lid on the bowl without locking it, so air can move. This keeps smells away.
